Its app, Inspection Express, is the #1 tool property managers in Australia and New Zealand use for tailored, comprehensive property reporting. The workflow-driven mobile app eliminates paperwork and filing using simple electronic checklists, saving up to 75% of time. It also integrates with a wide range of property management software so property managers can keep track of all their upcoming inspections and reminders from one system while on the go.

The challenge

Like many fast-growing software companies, iProperty Express is laser-focused on developing its product, acquiring new customers and optimising costs.

The company works with an offshore development team for the technical expertise to deliver its promise to customers. But, to expand into new markets, iProperty Express required infrastructure support from a trusted partner with a strong track record of implementing and managing diverse AWS environments.

The goal was to provide iProperty Express with a sorted index of discoveries across six pillars: Operational Excellence, Security, Reliability, Performance Efficiency, Cost Optimisation and Sustainability.

Parallo’s solution

To start, Parallo conducted an AWS Well-Architected Review. It then used the findings to produce high-level design documents that outlined the remedial action required to upgrade the company’s AWS cloud environment.

Parallo revealed and remediated two workloads for its AWS environment. This involved identifying 38 high-risk issues across the six pillars. Parallo resolved 27 of those issues, resulting in a more secure and resilient cloud infrastructure.

Parallo supported iProperty Express throughout the implementation process, setting up weekly check-ins and two-way communication channels to resolve issues in real-time. This also helped bridge the gap between the two teams working in Australian and New Zealand time zones.

Results and Benefits 

iProperty Express now has a more secure and resilient cloud infrastructure. In the long term, this means it can leverage the full potential of AWS services for improved operational efficiency, reduced costs and overall reliability and scalability of its systems.

After remediation, Parallo separated the AWS environment into three – development, testing and production – and created a consolidated billing account. This helped reduce the blast radius in the event one environment is hacked.

Parallo will continue to monitor and optimise the security, performance, availability and costs associated with the iProperty Express cloud platform and take remedial action. This involves supporting the business in deploying its infrastructure across the AWS ecosystem, starting with the United States market.
